7 Healthy Lunch Ideas For Weight Loss (Number #3 Will Give You A Foodgasm!)

Following the success of my last article “3 Healthy Breakfast Ideas For Weight Loss“, which became immensely popular on Facebook, I decided to write a sequel.

‘Cause y’all just couldn’t get enough of my healthy ideas for weight loss, this article will be all about lunch.

And, I strongly suspect I’ll end up writing one about dinner (and possibly supper/dessert), if the demand is there.

Which I suspect it will be.

Anyhoo, let’s get onto business.

Since there are just so many healthy foods out there that you could potentially eat at lunch, this list will be slightly longer than the breakfast one.

Which is good, ’cause that gives you more options, and options are awesome.

7 Healthy Lunch Ideas For Weight Loss

1: Tuna and salad sandwich

Not the tastiest lunch on the planet (I’m not that into tuna, sue me), but it’s low in calories and full of protein and heaps good nutrients.

Grab some wholemeal bread, spread that tuna on THICK, throw in some lettuce, tomato, cucumber, or whatever else you consider “salad”, and finish with a cheeky squirt of mayonnaise.

Delish if done right, and a great meal to help you lose weight.

2: A regular old salad, minus the tuna

Boring as all hell, but still one of the healthiest things you can eat for lunch.

Depending on the veggies you throw in, a salad can be incredibly low in calories, and simultaneously incredibly high in nutrients.

And, probably most important of all for weight loss, it’ll fill you up (so you’ll be less likely to binge eat unhealthy snacks throughout the day.)

While I personally don’t eat salads, if I was going to, I’d make sure there was a lot of corn, carrot, cucumber, and probably even broccoli and potato.

What? Those last two aren’t typical “salad-y” vegetables?

Screw you man.

Whatever.

3: Pan-fried Moroccan chicken and rice

Probably one of my favourite lunches – scratch that – favourite meals of all time, this one is seriously delicious and super good for you.

There are heaps of recipes out there, but the one I use is simple as heck.

  • Cut up 600-800g of chicken breast, add to mixing bowl
  • Dice a couple of garlic cloves, throw them in mixing bowl
  • Add 3 teaspoons of cumin to mixing bowl
  • Add 2 teaspoons of cinnamon to mixing bowl
  • Add juice of 1 whole lemon to mixing bowl
  • Peel and cut an orange into 8th’s, add to mixing bowl
  • Cut a small red chilli, add to mixing bowl
  • Add 60-80g of pine nuts to mixing bowl

At this point, you can either let the chicken marinade for ~30 minutes, or you can cook it straight away.

Serve this bad boy with brown rice for a healthy, delicious, and nutritious meal that can be prepared and cooked in half an hour.

4: Fruit salad with low-fat greek yoghurt

Yuuuuuuuum, if you want to eat something sweet (without the added calories that ice cream or cake would give you), give this a crack.

Again, like most of my healthy lunch ideas for weight loss, there is no set recipe you need to follow.

Just cut up a bunch of your favourite fruit, add in some low-fat greek yoghurt, and chow down on some natural, healthy, and super-sweet fruit.

(My favourite would have to be a mix of bananas, strawberries, apples, and oranges. With either strawberry or passionfruit yoghurt, dayum.)

5: Chicken and salad sandwich

This isn’t just because I’m running out of ideas either, it’s actually a really great meal.

Sure, chicken has more calories than tuna, but you know what?

It also tastes WAY better.

So…

Tuna can suck it as far as I’m concerned.

As far as preparation goes, add your fave salads to a couple of slices of wholegrain bread, and add copious amounts of sliced chicken breast.

Smother that sucker in mayo, and dig in.

(Note: mayonnaise is very high in calories, user discretion is advised.)

6: Water, because… You’re probably not even hungry!

Yeah, that’s right I said it, you’re probably not even hungry dude.

I won’t bore you with the technical side of it, but a lot of the time when we think we’re hungry we’re actually just thirsty.

So next time you’re about to make lunch, because you’re STARVING, just drink a glass of water first.

If you’re still hungry, no worries! Go ahead and eat!

But if you’re not hungry anymore? No food for you!

7: The leftovers from last nights dinner

Not gonna lie, pretty much half of my lunches are actually just reheated dinners.

I often cook too much food for dinner, and end up just freezing/refrigerating it, and then eating it the following day for lunch.

It’s quick, it’s easy, and, if your dinner was healthy, lunch will be healthy too.
